Chronic Absence
It is impossible to learn from teachers if you are not in school. Too many children in Rhode Island miss more than 18 days per year, which makes it more likely that they will be held back.

13% of Rhode Island children in kindergarten through 3rd grade miss more than 18 days of school.

24% of children in kindergarten through 3rd grade in the core cities (Central Falls, Pawtucket, Providence, and Woonsocket) miss more than 18 days of school.
